This research sought to build foundational knowledge of Honeywell's global team of designers' experience with the design system of a maturing software-as-a-service product. Card sorts revealed an overly complex taxonomy of design components that led to confusion and product inconsistencies. Additional interviews revealed consistent pain points in designers workflows as they navigated three different platforms to gather the information they needed to build the product. Insights from this research contributed to increased usability of the taxonomy, and provided further support for a business case to upgrade design system infrastructure.
